Sports Public diplomacy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs actively promotes friendly relations between nations and enhances Korea’s national reputation through sports. In particular, the Ministry prioritizes sports diplomacy and supports hosting international sporting events generating significant economic ripple effects and effectively boosting the national brand.

The Ministry also hosts various sporting events, such as the Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship, esports, hockey, and the game of go, as part of its public diplomacy efforts to promote people-to-people exchanges and raise awareness of Korea through sports.
